Melekeok Dispensary Receives Toys, Books

Last April, Mr. Yamagami Hironobu visited Palau to learn more about its laws and justice system. Mr. Yamagami is a criminal justice instructor at the Aichi Educational University in Japan. While in Palau, he had the chance to visit the Melekeok Dispensary. He expressed his interest to help the dispensary in any way he could and asked what the dispensary was in need of. Nurse Helmer Rechelluul told him how the shelf in the children’s corner was empty because children who came for treatment and played with the toys liked them so much that they would take them home when they left. This left the shelves empty, and other children who came for treatment had nothing to play with. Mr. Yamagami took this to heart. When he returned to Japan, he met with members of his community and was able to collect two boxes of toys and books to donate to the Melekeok Dispensary. The boxes arrived a few days ago, and were delivered today to the dispensary.
